This is the second part of the best apps of this year. Go here to have a read at the first part.
As far as chat apps are concerned, 2106 could be called the year of Snapchat.
Not many people outside of the US and Canada knew about this app until Facebook and others started copying features of Snapchat and integrating them into their own apps.
Now Snapchat is known as the app that is giving Facebook and Co a lot of concern. So much concern that they are doing their best to undermine the app.
Facebook even went a step further by creating a complete Snapchat clone known as Flash.
Next year is going to be big for Snapchat as they would go public in an IPO that is the biggest in recent times. That should net them up to $4 billion, enough money to make the app even better.
What is there to say about WhatsApp? The messaging app is now like the gold standard for measuring the performance of other messaging apps.
It normal hearing stuff like ‘It is better than WhatsApp‘ or ‘Is it as good as WhatsApp?‘ in reviewing any new messaging app.
WhatsApp grew like no other messaging app did because it used phone contacts as the basis for exchanging messages
Right now, more that 1 billion people use WhatsApp around the world. This translates into one in every seven people using the messaging app.
With new updates and features being added to the add, the app is guaranteed to get bigger next year. Only an earthquake-sized mistake by Facebook (owners of WhatsApp) would lead to the demise of the app in the foreseeable future.
And sharing WhatsApp user details with Facebook does not even come close to the sort of mistake that would lead to the end of WhatsApp.
Just recently, a friend asked me to convert the photos on her smartphone into a long video featuring her shots. I pointed her in the direction of Boomerang.
That is what Boomerang does. It stitches photos into a sort of short video. The end result is almost like a smartphone-created motion picture or movie.
You would have a lot fun with this app if you dedicate time to learning how it works. Knowing how to move around the interface to do the basics wouldn’t take more than an hour of your time.
A Good Snowman Is Hard to Build
Okay, that is a strange name for an app whether it is a paid app or not. As a matter of fact, this app with the strange name would cost you $5 to install.
The makers must have known that people love puzzles especially if you make them fun. Because that is what this app is all about. A puzzle with loads of fun.
Though, the idea of building a snowman doesn’t seem like much, but I assure you, it is the direct opposite of ‘not much.’
The game though is not just about building snow men. More about building snow objects and doing amazing things with them. The game is fun and smart in more ways than one can imagine.
A hard working mother or nannies would thank the creator of this app. It is mostly about getting the baby to stop crying and quietly sleep off. Adults having problems sleeping can use the app to ease them to sleep too.
White noise contains a lot of soothing music carefully chosen for the baby. Off course all the songs don’t contain jarring notes to startle babies into a fit of wailing.
Switching between sounds and adjusting volume to find the right cocktail of sounds for the baby is very easy.
The app makers should find a way to make sure the app can work in the background though; at least so one can do other things with the smartphone while White Noise is doing its thing.
There is a reason Snapchat bought the company that created this app for almost $100 million in March this year.
Stickers for videos and images are nothing new, but Bitmoji seems to be the leader of the pack. With Bitmoji one can created customized emojis, even ones that look like you. The so-called avatars.
Expect emoji-creating apps like Bitmoji to continue growing stronger as demand for emojis continue to increase. However, if you are have Bitmoji, there won’t he a need to add a similar app unless it is far better that this one.
