Taxify has patneredwith AIICO Insurance PLC and AutoGenius (one of Nigeria’s first digital insurance platforms) has launched an insurance policy tagged ‘Taxify Cover’ which is meant to improve driver and rider safety and also increase the confidence of their user base.
First off, I’d like to commend Taxify for putting stuffs like this into play as it is high time insurance in Nigeria are taken very seriously. It’s good that Taxify are the one taking the lead on this course here.
So what exactly is Taxify Cover? Taxify Cover is a Comprehensive Motor Insurance which provides compensation for: Own accidental damage, third party bodily injury/ property damage, theft and fire damage to the vehicle, death/ disability/ assault to the driver and rider, passengers’ liability and Loss of personal effects for both the driver and the rider.
According to the Operations Manager of Taxify Lagos, Uche Okafor, he said that “This is the first time insurance is playing an active role in the daily commute of riders and drivers using any ride-hailing app, and we are happy to be at the helm of it. This is line with our commitment to improving the quality of transportation in Lagos”.
Adebowale Banjo, the General Manager of AutoGenius made known that to develop a digital, sophisticated, and holistic product in the e-hailing business that not only secures riders and passengers but also their assets, was a necessity.
The insurance policy will be available for purchase on AutoGenius’ platform.
Since this has now come like this, maybe tomorrow’s news would be ‘Uber launches it’s own insurance policy’. But this is a very swift move by Taxify to outperform Uber, and we are kinda sure they would respond. Remember when they slashed prices? We’d be waiting till tomorrow.
