Writer. Asides being a writer, I'm incredible!

The use of the most popular video streaming platform Youtube has just gotten a fresh influx of development, although not actualized as we speak, but the prospect of such a development gives the world of Youtube users a sigh of relief.

The development being talked about here is the plan  set in motion to stop the half a minute unskippable ads in Youtube videos from 2018.

DON’T MISS THIS: Youtube Ad Boycott Could Harm Google

Before I go into full details, I’m going to be giving a little scenario. Just take for instance, you are watching an interesting video on Youtube, for example, the highly anticipated “The Wedding Party 2”, and then an ad shows up. In some cases, the ads might be actually cool and you might want to see just a bit of it but another thing strikes your mind, “this ad is unskippable and it’s going to run for 30 good seconds”.

Well, I guess the discomfort felt by Youtube users has reached the soft spot of Youtube, which actually prompted the move to stop the half a minute ad on the platform.

Through a statement released by a spokesperson from Google to The Campaign, it was stated that Google’s intent to make its users have better enjoyable experience while using the platform is the purpose behind the prospective move.

The statement read, “We’re committed to providing a better ads experience for users online. As part of that, we’ve decided to stop supporting the 30-second unskippable ads as of 2018 and focus instead on formats that works best for both users and advertisers.”

DON’T MISS THIS: Finally! Video Livestreaming Is Coming To YouTube’s Mobile App

Such a brilliant masterpiece from the company, but I’m sure Youtube users will still find it impatient waiting till 2018 and asking the big question “Why can’t it be done now?” If one isn’t an Oliver Twist, one will at least commend the good strategical move made by Youtube.

With the impending elimination of the 30 seconds ads, it’s more likely that the ads with lesser seconds such as the 15 seconds ads will see more implementation when the 30 seconds ad strategy is scrapped out next year.

Till then, let’s keep our fingers crossed and bear with Youtube for the time being.
