The latest smartphone to showcase Sharp’s manufacturing prowess is the Sharp Aquos S2. This smartphone which was announced and released in August 2017 offers a lot of interesting features that will leave you awing in amazement. Apart from the bezel-less feature in its design, the manner in which the front camera was positioned further beautifies the smartphone. The smartphone’s storage and RAM also makes the smartphone just adorable. The smartphone comes in two variants when its storage and RAM are considered. This storage and RAM variant also went on to affect the chipset and CPU used for the two device’s variants. Oh, I haven’t mentioned the camera quality of the smartphone is impeccable. Take a chill pill from me as we look into the full specifications of Sharp Aquos S2.

The smartphone has a large screen display size of 5.5 inches with 2.5D Curved Glass. This ensures that the user enjoys viewing of movies and gaming on a large screen. The screen to body ratio of the smartphone is approximately 79.0%. The screen to body ratio ensures that there’s even larger percentage of the screen to view movies and images. The screen resolution of the smartphone is also remarkable at 1080 x 2040 pixels. Its screen resolution handles the clarity of texts, images and icons. The screen display type is the IPS LCD capacitive touchscreen. The pixel density of the display is 420ppi. A Corning Gorilla Glass is what acts as the defender of the smartphone’s screen. However, the version of the Corning Gorilla Glass is unspecified. the smartphone’s display has 16 million colours.

The front of the smartphone is an absolute stunner. Having a bezel less front display, the smartphone sports its front camera at the top central location. The “SHARP” logo appears at the bottom region of the front display, with the fingerprint sensor appearing under the logo. The rear of the smartphone has a smooth outlook, and it features the dual camera setup at its top left corner. The LED flash comes under the dual camera setup in a classic vertical format. The power button and the volume keys appear at the right hand side of the smartphone. The dimension of the smartphone is 141.8 x 72 x 7.9 mm (5.58 x 2.83 x 0.31 in). Its weight is 141g, which makes it a light smartphone. The smartphone comes in four colour variants which are White, Black, Blue, Green.

Who doesn’t love an exceptional device that can guarantee you smooth and quality photos? I believe there’s no one. The camera department of Sharp Aqua S2 is one of a kind. Apart from the fact that it has a lovely dual camera setup, it is worthy to note that the dual camera setup has very nice camera sensors. Actually, it’s the rear camera of the smartphone that has a dual camera setup. The primary sensor of the dual camera setup is 12MP while the secondary sensor of the dual camera setup is 8MP. The features of the rear camera are: 1.4 µm pixel size, geo-tagging, touch focus, face detection, panorama, HDR. The 12MP sensor in the dual camera setup has the f/1.8 aperture for enhancing the image production. Together that makes 20MP quality available for taking pictures and recording videos. The recording of videos by the rear camera is 1080p @ 30fps. That’s super massive, I have to enunciate. It doesn’t just stop there, there is a LED flash that brightens images in low light conditions. The front camera also stands well in its department too. Talk about an 8MP sensor for a front camera, that’s assuring good selfies. The 8MP camera sensor not only takes beautiful selfies but also records quality images. The 8MP sensor at the front camera has an aperture also; the f/2.0 aperture.

The operating system of the two smartphone variants is the Android 7.1.1 Nougat OS. This gives the smartphone the split-screen functionality. The processor of the two smartphone variants are different. The 4GB / 64GB variant uses the Qualcomm Snapdragon 630 chipset. The 6GB / 128GB variant uses the Qualcomm MSM8956 Plus Snapdragon 660, an even better chipset. The CPU the two devices makes use of is also different. The 4GB / 64GB variant makes use of the Octa-core Cortex A-53 processor in which 4 of the 8 Cortex A-53 processors run at a processor speed of 2.2 GHz while the other 4 Cortex A-53 processors run at clock speed of 1.8 GHz Cortex. The second variant which is the 6GB RAM / 128GB ROM uses a different Octa core processor – the Kryo 260 CPU. 4 of its cores run at a processor speed of 2.2GHz while the remaining four run a processor speed of 1.8GHz similar to the 4GB / 64GB variant. For the graphics too, their GPUs are different. 4GB / 64GB variant makes use of Adreno 508 while the second variant 6GB / 128GB makes use of Adreno 512 GPU.

The smartphone has two variants in  this category. The two categories have heavy memory compartments no doubt. The RAM of the first smartphone variant is a heavy 4GB RAM. This handles the smooth running of apps on the device. Multi-tasking on this device is also fluid. The internal storage of this same smartphone variant is 64GB. This covers the storage of files such as music, videos, documents and photos. The internal storage can be extended with the use of a micro SD card to 256GB. The other smartphone variant of the device has a larger RAM. The quality of the RAM is 6GB. That’s an even better platform for smooth apps running. One would have thought the smooth running of apps in the first was beyond normal. This however dwarfs that statement.  The internal storage of this second variant is twice as large as the first variant, that is, 128GB. An improved internal storage will be an understatement for this device. The iPhone smartphones aren’t the only big guns in the business of large smartphone internal storage. What this device uses to outshine the iPhone smartphones is the ability to expand to even larger storage capacities.

There is a fingerprint sensor that comes with the smartphone. The fingerprint sensor is located at the front of the device. Other sensors on the smartphone are  accelerometer, gyro sensor, proximity sensor and compass sensor.

The battery the smartphone uses is a non-removable 3,200mAh. Its battery capacity is better than the Samsung Galaxy J7+ but its still in the comfort zone of light and average smartphone users. Heavy smartphone users could make use of a power bank to complement the battery deficiency.
