Rebecca Enonchong Is The Newly Elected Board Chair of AfriLabs

Rebecca Enonchong is the newly elected Board Chair of AfriLabs, thereby replacing Michael Oluwagbemi.

Rebecca Enonchong is a technology investor and entrepreneur born in Cameroon, West Africa. She is the founder and CEO of AppsTech, a leading international provider of application solutions. She’s the co-founder and also a board member of African Business Angels Network and Cameroon Angel’s Network. She’s also a board member of Venture Capital for Africa (VC4Africa) and other companies.

AfriLabs is a Pan-African network of tech hubs whose impact on the African technology forefront has been of great impact.

Rebecca Enonchong is the elected AfriLabs Board Chair. The election of Rebecca Enonchong came at the back of an election which was the second Board Election. The election took place on 28 March 2017 in which the votes were strictly cast by organizational members.

“It is truly an honor to be elected Board Chair of the AfriLabs Board, continuing the visionary work of its founders. As African tech hubs mature and gain momentum, the mission and work of Afrilabs is more important than ever before,” she stated following the announcement of the poll results.

All the affairs at the helm of the board won’t be done only by her as she will be working with other newly elected board members. The newly elected members of the board include:

  • Bernard Chirra (Secretary of the Board, AfriLabs – C.E.O iBiz, Kenya);
  • Rakoroarivo Noharintsafidy Sarody ( Board Treasurer of AfriLabs – C.E.O HABAKA Hub, Madagascar);
  • Regina Mbodj (Francophone Representative, AfriLabs – C.E.O CTIC Dakar, Senegal) and
  • Nekesa Were(Board Member, AfriLabs – C.E.O iHub, Kenya)

The elected board members have been growing technology and innovation in their various niches. Ina few weeks time, they’ll be the official board members having replaced the former board.

The elected Board Chair also added, “I am excited about the opportunities ahead in this next phase of growth for the organization, solidifying its position as a catalyst in Africa’s entrepreneurial ecosystem. I look forward to working with our dynamic new board and secretariat to accomplish our mission.”
