In a time where there is a high cry for the increase of foreign investment in the country, an indigenous firm in the Niger Delta region, the RoboMicheal Limited , has disclosed signing a contract with a Chinese company to set up a phone manufacturing factory in Ogoni land. This is surely a welcome development at this point.

According to the Managing Director of the firm, Ayobo Michael Ibrahim, the phone factory would empower over 500 people in the region. These people would be trained in technology and the presence of the factory would also address issues of unemployment in the region.

This was disclosed by Ibrahim Ayobo at Bori, in Khana Local Government Area of Rivers State , during the weekend, in a consultation meeting with the Conference of Ogoni Traditional rulers , women and youths. She made mention that the firm was granted licence by the Federal Government last month to operate the OML 11, while also to set up industries in the area.

According to the Managing Director, projects aimed at developing Ogoni land are underway while also disclosing that to sustain job creation in the area, virtually all youth would be empowered with skill. In her own words, a new global city would be built in the area , with shopping malls , health centres , and houses, adding about 25 non- governmental organisations would move into Ogoni after the completion of the project.
