In less than a month away from the unveiling of the Samsung S9 and S9 Plus, reports have reached us that there will be no significant changes on the outward appearances of the duo compared to the S8 phones of 2017, but that there will be changes on the internal parts of the phones. A report we find easy to believe due to the previous reliability on leaks from ET news claims that the internal upgrades are very great and that this will not only be affecting the processor.

For the screen, we should be expecting the OLED panels again for the display, we should also be hoping to see the Y-OCTA technology (Youm On-Cell Touch AMOLED). This gives access to the touch sensor to be directly integrated into the display instead of having it separated.  This incredible technology will enable Samsung to reduce the weight of the S9 and also make the phone thinner than the S8, and also increase the responsiveness of the touch.

Samsung will be putting to use SLP (Substrate Like PCB) mainboards in both phones, as this will reduce the circuit board components and give the phone more room on the inside. We don’t have any idea yet of what they will be willing to do with the free space, we assume it will be used for extra cooling instead of expanding the battery and using the space for extra power units. The only warning that comes with the SLP method is that it will only be used with Exynos-powered devices and not the Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 variant that will be going straight to the US.

From the reports gathered, we also noted that the S9 phones will have cameras with the f/1.5 aperture, that will be one of the largest ever fixed on smartphones. We have previously seen phones like the  LG V30 and Huawei Mate 10 Pro smartphones with the f/1.6 aperture, but the S9 duo is coming out to put them right behind with the f/1.5.  With this, we expect better quality photos, since this feature will give room for more light to come in and that will improve the pictures in low light conditions.

Although we are not expecting any special changes on the exterior of the S8 and S9, the internal improvements could almost prompt those who own the S8 to flip it out for the S9 and also motivate those who haven’t owned Samsung products to patronize when it’s finally released in March.
