After the rollout of 4G LTE network in Nigeria, by the leading telcos, MTN Globacom and etisalat, the questions on people’s lips was all revolving about if Airtel would also launch the 4G LTE, and when they would do that. At a point, we thought there’d be no Airtel 4G at all. Not to also mention that they were the first to carryout a trial of the network in 2012.
Well, it seems all that is about to change as telco company, Airtel are very well set to launch their 4G LTE network. To be sincere, this move is very long overdue and could come back to haunt the coy if it isn’t early enough.
According to Airtel NG, that the roll out of the 4G technology was in partnership with ZTE, a Chinese multinational telecommunications equipment/systems company. Meaning ZTE will build their 4G LTE network in Nigeria.
The 4G LTE network has witnessed increased dominance in the country with a lot of new smartphones seen to adopt the technology too. It is only wise for any telco to inculcate the network with their service.
The next thing we should be worried about is the pricing of data plans. Maybe we shouldn’t be worried because Glo offers us a fair price, but then, we’d still wait and compare to get the best too.
