Facebook tests Masquerade filters Snapchat

Writer and Social entrepreneur.

Well, as a matter of fact, everyone knows about the deeds of Facebook. Deeds in this case refers to Facebook’s blatant copying of a whole lot of snapchat’s features. They can copy a feature, fine tune it and make you love it even more than you do the first one.

Many people must have criticized Facebook for these copying but then, it hasn’t made them any less popular from what they used to be. On the contrary, it has actually increased their popularity in this industry.

Well, amongst all the Facebook critics we have, we might have just come across the most angry one of them all, and guess who it is? Its Evan Spiegel’s girlfriend. She has voiced out her criticism and displeasure at the way Facebook is copying her boyfriend’s ideas and not being innovative.

“Can they not be innovative?” she said. “Do they have to steal all of my partner’s ideas?” I’m so appalled by that… When you directly copy someone, that’s not innovation.”

Well, I must say to Miranda that is surely not innovation but I must say that as long as there is no patent law covering those snapchat features, its completely legal. One important proof that no other person is disgusted at Facebook’s copying behavior – except of course, Miranda – is the fact that Instagram Stories already has more than 150 million daily active users, approaching Snapchat’s 158 million.

I must say that to remain relevant in this business atmosphere, there are white tricks and black tricks, but Facebook decided to get themselves dirty and go about it using the black tricks.

Many have opined that Facebook might be coming for another snapchat feature, the Snapchat’s Spectacles. If they eventually do, I’d love to watch the whole drama till it unfolds entirely. But till then, let’s just keep our fingers crossed.

If I were to offer an advice to Snapchat, I’d tell them try and get their features patented (or if there’s another word for owning exclusive rights to something) as it would help them, because as far as I am concerned, presently, it all seems like Facebook might come knocking on their door in no time.
