Writer. Asides being a writer, I'm incredible!

The award category “Best Fintech Startup” at the Cashless Africa Awards held on 25th March 2017 was won by VoguePay. The award ceremony was held in Lagos at the Oriental Hotels.

Awards are forms of recognition to honor jobs well done I believe. No wonder the organizing body made it known to the continent that the Awards are dedicated to honoring creativity, hard work and excellence in the digital financial services across Africa.

The Awards have now been running for six years and the Awards organization have contributed immensely to the digital sector of financial services. The Awards ceremony was conducted as part of the Cashless Africa Expo.

VoguePay is a secure gateway for payment whose goal is to make payments and transactions both locally and internationally, both same currency and cross-currency to be safer and with ease of access for entrepreneurs and online purchasers alike across Africa.

VoguePay won the award category of “Best Fintech Startup” due to its part in securing online payments in Africa. VoguePay is a startup that originates from Nigeria and kick-started operations in 2012.

Most recently, VoguePay put a cut on prices for online transactions in Nigeria making its services the cheapest of all online payment companies in Nigeria. Talk about standing up to competitors and giving them surprises they don’t expect, VoguePay definitely ticks the box. I’m on the affirmative that very soon, most of these online payment companies will have to give their prices a cut too.

Wole Ogunlade, VoguePay’s Head of Digital and Media Strategy was so proud of the award that he commended VoguePay’s non-relentless efforts in ensuring safe transactions online. He also gave credit to VoguePay’s innovations that proved to be problem-solving in bridging the gap that helped to link Africa to other parts of the world.

Well, here was where he dropped the bombshell when he made mention of VoguePay functioning in 4 continents including Africa, North America, Asia and Europe. VoguePay according to Wole Ogunlade is Nigeria’s biggest merchant size payment gateway.

Although, VoguePay weren’t the only winners in the Awards ceremony, Diamond Bank, WorldRemit and TransferTo were also winners in some other categories. The categories for nominations were 15 in number at the ceremony.
