The construction of the data centre is to improve the technology exposure in the state. The closest state to Ogun State, Lagos can be considered to be the technology central of the nation. So, Ogun State taking a leap further to join the ‘big boy’ in technology in Nigeria should be a welcome note.

The company’s chairman, Fola Adeola stated that the plan to build the data centre in the state is to elevate the ICT development in the state.

“Given its market and reputation as haven for manufacturing and other enterprises, growth potential, investment-friendly disposition and proximity to Lagos State, Ogun State has the potential to become one of the major hubs of industrialization in Nigeria,” Adeola said.

He added, “Technology has a major role to play in that evolution. The focus of the state government on infrastructural development is a welcome development, and technology will be critical to achieve the full potential for economic development.”

The location of the data centre has been declared to be in the Flowergate Industrial Park of Sagamu. The construction of the building is expected to commence before the year runs out.

The completion of the data centre will not only favor the state but also favor the “technology big boy” in West Africa – Lagos. The data centre will act as backup for the businesses in Lagos–considering the high rate of business activities in the state. Several companies in Ogun state will also benefit from the data centre, with the data centre supplying them with services related to their enterprise.
